Earth Day Reflections: The Organizations Our Community Loves

This Earth Day, we asked our community a simple question: What environmental organizations do you love most and why? ๐ŸŒŽ

What came back felt less like a list and more like a collection of stories. Some shared lifelong memories. Some pointed to global movements making real change. Others talked about the places right down the road they want to protect and hold on to.

One thing was clear: There are so many ways to care for the Earth, and every single one matters!

One of the most mentioned was the World Wildlife Fund. People spoke about their love for animals, protecting endangered species, and the belief that this planet is not just ours. Itโ€™s a powerful reminder of the balance we are all a part of!

Close behind was The Nature Conservancy, known for protecting land and water on a large scale. Itโ€™s thoughtful, steady work that builds a better future, even if you donโ€™t always see it right away.

And then there was one theme that kept showing up: Trees! ๐ŸŒฒ

Organizations like the Arbor Day Foundation and One Tree Planted came up again and again. From childhood memories of planting trees to the everyday benefits they give us, air, shade, beauty, calm, itโ€™s something we can all agree on!

There was also love for bold, action-driven groups like Greenpeace, along with organizations like Earthjustice and Citizens Climate Lobby, who are working behind the scenes to push for real, lasting change. Because protecting the planet also means protecting people!

One of the most meaningful takeaways was how many people stayed close to home.

Local favorites like Maine Audubon, MOFGA, and regional land trusts and watershed groups were mentioned with so much heart! These are the places people walk, volunteer, and connect with again and again. The impact feels real because it is.

There was also a strong thread around food, farming, and community. Supporting local growers, increasing access to fresh food, and making more mindful choices every day. Itโ€™s a reminder that caring for the Earth doesnโ€™t have to be big to matter!

Reading through it all, there wasnโ€™t one โ€œrightโ€ answer.

Some people protect wildlife.
Some plant trees.
Some preserve land or push for policy change.
Some live a little more intentionally.

Different paths, same direction!

That idea has been guiding us, too.

Over the past year, we have taken steps to reduce our impact while staying rooted in the place we call home. With the help of ReVision Energy, we are now fully solar powered, a shift that feels both big and deeply meaningful!

Weโ€™re also excited to keep that momentum going with our newย Replay program, which promotes circularity and sustainability within our community! Itโ€™s a simple way to give your new or gently used Mexicali Blues pieces a second life, earn rewards, and shop previously loved styles more mindfully.

We have also been working on something that you can actually experience.

In partnership with Coastal Rivers Conservation Trust, we helped create a trail behind our warehouse that now connects to the Marsh River Bog. It was designed to help protect the land, prevent erosion, and allow people to explore the area thoughtfully.

The trail is open to the public, with direct access from our Newcastle store parking lot, and we hope youโ€™ll check it out!

This Earth Day, we are feeling grateful.

For this community.
For the many ways you show up for the planet.
For the reminder that it doesnโ€™t have to look just one way.

It all matters, and it all adds up! ๐ŸŒŽ
