Solar Power

"ENVIRONMENTAL AWARENESS IS ESSENTIAL TO THIS COMPANY'S MISSION"

-- Mexicali co-owner Pete Erskine.

Mexicali Blues is committed to sustainability. We sell products made from sustainable materials, and we recycle, reuse, and try to reduce our use of low-impact materials. Since December of 2016 we have stepped up our sustainable practices by offsetting a portion of our electrical usage with solar panels! Joining forces with Liberty, ME-based ReVision Energy, they set us up with a grid-tied system that lets us not only harvest solar electricity, but allows us to contribute our extra power to strengthen Midcoast Maine’s power grid.

Thirty-six panels on the roof of our flagship location in Newcastle produce over 12,000 kilowatt-hours (kWhs) of electricity each year. In addition, at the end of 2017 we added 145 panels to our warehouse, which boost our solar production to over 62,000 kWhs and offsets the equivalent of driving over 113,000 miles each year!
