For centuries smudging, the burning of aromatic herbs, has been practiced among Native Americans to purify objects and locations. WHITE SAGE is traditionally used as a space clearing plant, to remove negative energy indoors and out. It supports healing rituals, sweat lodge ceremonies and festivals. Its fresh herbal fragrance rejuvenates the mind and enhances mental clarity and memory. White Sage is sustainably harvested by Native Americans with great care and respect for the environment.

PLACE

We travel the world to source unique and handmade items. Whether we find ourselves in Thailand, India, Indonesia, Peru, Guatemala or Nepal that journey feels magical—through forested volcanic mountains, across beautiful beaches and reefs, to stunning terraced rice fields, and through an amazing array of immersive experiences—festivals! dances! parades!—in incredibly warm and welcoming communities.

PURPOSE

Mexicali Blues donates 1% of sales to organizations. The dollars you spend on handmade goods from our shop do a world of good here and in local communities abroad. We work hard to find organizations who value long term impacts- such as building schools, teaching skills, or improving community life.

PROCESS

Pete is proud of never bargaining the price he is given and always paying artisans for their skill and hard work. We see for ourselves how our goods are made and we work with the people who make them to keep items affordable for you and workshop wages fair for our artisans.

PEOPLE

We forge long-term and mutually beneficial relationships with the artisans who handcraft our products. Pete and Kim have known many of our vendors for over a decade! Buying trips are chances to catch up with old friends and make new memories.
