A lifelong traveler, Carly Erskine has been traveling with her parents, Mexicali co-owners Pete and Kim, since she was just a baby. With 20-something years of experience traveling and a solid preference for backpacks over wheel-y suitcases, she’s gotten packing light down to an art, even when venturing to three countries with very different climates on one trip. Here’s what she always makes sure to bring when she’s traveling to Thailand, the usually sunny and always beautiful “Land of Smiles”:
Thailand can be extremely hot and humid, and the cultural dress code isn’t as strict as many other countries, so Carly prepares by bringing loose lightweight clothing like skirts, shorts, and tank tops. The oversized scarf she always brings on her travels in her carry-on bag is at-the-ready as a shawl if the temperatures drop.
Comfortable, waterproof shoes. Since it rains often in Thailand, anything made of rubber or a plastic composite is a great choice.
A Steal Your State frisbee. Carly loves meeting people through starting up a game of frisbee. Adults and kids all get in on the fun. Even when there is a bit of a language barrier, she loves connecting with those she meets through the universal communication of smiles and play!
While the other supplies in her pack may vary depending on how long she’ll be in the country or where else she’s traveling to, these items are always with her when she travels to Thailand. Have you ever been to Thailand? What would you consider an essential supply for making that trip?
