We’ve been thinking a lot about the 5 amazing neighborhoods throughout Maine where we have our brick-and-mortar stores, and how—though they are all united in being filled with wonderful people who support and look out for one another—each community is unique in its own special way. As we think on these areas of awesomeness with immense pride and gratitude, we started to wonder about what the locals were loving about their community, and who they saw working to make it even better. We reached out to store managers to see what they thought; here’s the word from Mary Tevault (seen exploring underwater life in the pic, with cool co-workers Katrina and Lindsey), co-assistant manager of our Freeport store:
1) WHAT MAKES YOUR COMMUNITY UNIQUE?
“Freeport USA is a little community that focuses on local businesses. While Freeport is a tourist town, its locals understand the importance of shopping the small!”
2) WHAT IS A GROUP OR ORGANIZATION THAT YOU FEEL CONTRIBUTES GOODNESS TO YOUR COMMUNITY?
L.L.Bean, Bow Street Market, and Freeport Yoga Company contribute a lot to the town. They donate a fair amount to the town for community events and general upkeep to make sure Freeport stays fabulous!
3) WHAT IS IT THAT YOU THINK MAKES THEM SO AWESOME?
“They care about more than just profits. They understand that this isn’t just a tourist town, but a community!”
Thanks for sharing a bit of what you love about Freeport, Mary! If YOU live or spend time in or around Freeport, we’d love to know what you love about that unique place, and any awesome organizations you’ve seen doing good work for the community!
